DIY Salt Dough Ornaments

Deck the Halls with Dough

Loving our DIY Salt Dough Ornaments! Could these #anthroinspired ornaments be any cuter?? So easy to make and a fun holiday craft for all! Using a few pantry ingredients, these holiday cuties are one of the easiest DIYs yet!

Salt Dough Ornaments

Ingredients:

-4 cups of flour
-1 cup of salt
-1 3/4 cup of warm water

Salt Dough Ornaments

The Process:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl until dough forms. If it’s a little dry, you can add a bit more water

  2. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and soft.

  3. Roll out dough and use cookie cutters to make the shapes you want or freehand it!

  4. Using a straw or chopstick, poke a hole in the top of the ornament

  5. Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet at 250 for 2 hours, flipping 1/2 way through or let air dry for 2-5 days (depending on how wet your dough is)

  6. Once the ornaments are dry, paint away! We used craft paint from our local craft store - fun tip: feel free to play with colors, not everything needs to be red and green!

  7. To seal, coat with modge podge for a lasting finish.
